Building Surveys

Our telescopic mast allows a cost effective method of inspecting the external fabric of buildings. Conventional methods of assessing the condition of external fabric from ground level with binoculars or involve erecting scaffolding to the facade of the building or using a team of abseilers. The use of binoculars allows a limited view of potential surfaces and will not pick up those surfaces facing skywards, which are the areas exposed to the elements. The latter two involve physical contact with the building, are costly and take several days to complete. There is also a risk that accidental damage may occur to non defective areas of building fabric during the erection of the scaffolding or the abseiling.

Our mast system allows inspections to be made from a distance away from the building which avoids the contact with the building. When using our specialist equipment, the surveyor can see on our monitor exactly what the camera is looking at and zoom in to take detailed photographs or video. The results obtained are the same as if the surveyor could levitate up and down the facade of the building with their camera. A photographic condition survey of a medium sized building can normally be undertaken in a day depending up the layout and surrounding site of the building.

The overall benefit of using our system is that a large amount of detailed information on the fabric of the building can be obtained quickly and efficiently without the need of intrusive scaffolding or contact with the building. This information can then be used by the surveyor or architect to draw up maintenance schedules, bills of quantities, specification of works etc. which incorporate detailed quantities for items of repair. This ultimately produces budgets and tender documents that have a reduced number of provisional sums.

All inspections are undertaken by our in house Chartered Building Surveyor and Elevated Aspects is a registered company with Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), so you can be assured you are dealing with a company who are property professionals.
